This is a Nov 1999 car and were produced between sept 1999 –Aug 2000, the model code is GC8G2FD. A truly remarkable example of the rare two-door Japanese performance car , this STi Version 6 represents the final generation of the first-generation gc8 Impreza. As a two-door V6 Type R model, this lightweight, high-performance example features a close-ratio five-speed gearbox as standard, along with a quicker steering rack, four-piston front brake calipers, an automatic water spray for the intercooler, and an electronically adjustable centre differential (DCCD) It is also equipped with an aluminium bonnet and suspension lower arms, a carbon-fibre strut brace, and the correct Version 6 body kit and rear wing. Factory-fitted equipment includes air conditioning, electric windows and electrically adjustable door mirrors. The Version 6 Type R is seen throughout the Subaru community as the next bext thing to a 22b and “the one to have”. This is my own personal car and been in dry storage for some time now, this ended up been my lock down job! The car has done around 20 miles in my hands and never seen rain, bearly been out from under its cover. Ive finally got round to sending off for the registration and its time for a change, so im parting company with this ultra clean Classic. SO Where do I start? ? I been through this car with a fine tooth comb! To put it in one sentence over a matter of time its been general cleaning to EXTENTS and LENGTHS others would not go to, replacing certain cosmetic parts with new like for like and mainly OEM Subaru parts ONLY. I have had the paint work softly machine polished by my local detailer which looks incredible to bring the car up to a really HIGH STANDARD. One of the most important factors of the old gc8’s is the shell , I can say its super solid and equivalent to a 2 year old car underneath or better. The car retains most factory oem equipment but does have some tasteful modifications which I chose not to put back to OEM. The Genuine Rays Ce28n 17” wheels are one of the lightest available and extremely rare, I’ve had them powder coated in the correct gold Subaru colour which really suit the car. For handling its running Ohlins adjustable coil overs, makes the cars handling and stance superior. Also runs a full stainless exhaust system which is not over noisy at all. Performance wise power Fc with commander running a tiny bit over factory power. The car came with the carbon inserts on certain cabin bits which look to have been done professionally so ive left them in place. All oils have been changed including transmission and engine oil with fully synthetic oils. Engine bay ive spent many hours generally stripping down cleaning and replacing nuts and bolts/clips etc etc , again to bring it upto a really high standard. I could list endless little bits and pieces right down to final touches of sourcing new genuine decals from far and wide. I think the pictures give you a good idea that the car is probably one of the Cleanest v6 type R’s left and defiantly the cleanest available – This would make an excellent addition to someone’s collection.
